Hello, my name is Sarah Clee, I am the founder and Director of CleeCo. As an experienced marketeer and operations manager I have always invested time in developing the communication skills of my teams, to ensure that they were able to deal with day to day communication demands and crucially are able to set out and demonstrate a clear vision to lead people towards.
I believe that great leaders and companies are exceptionally skilled in communications and without that skill you are unlikely to be the best. I have experienced some great communication teachers and consultants but many more really poor ones. That is why I started CleeCo, to offer high quality training and communications support and consultancy.
The difference with CleeCo is that all courses are personalised to you and your needs.
During my career I have successfully managed situations from product recalls, major disasters, court cases, and public consultations to royal visits, VIP openings, fundraising events and major conferences.
The thing they all have in common is highly successful engagement. This is achieved through a clear plan, consistent messages and a great delivery. I have a passion for the effect that real engagement brings when the communication is done well, hence my decision to establish CleeCo to support my clients to deliver the very best to their staff and customers no matter what the context is.
Who is Sarah Clee
I am a marketing professional with more than 20 years experience. I started my career working in full service agencies. I learnt my trade working with business to business and consumer clients including; Cargill, Novartis, Cadbury, Wedgwood, npower, Corgi, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Hillaries Blinds and Argos.
After 8 years in agencies I moved to the operational side of business and the not for profit sector working at Board Level in the NHS helping them to respond to the changing expectations of politicians and the public. I led a number of high profile projects, leading to me delivering masterclasses for The Association of Healthcare Communicators, as well as being recognised by Tony Blair, at the end of his term as Prime Minister ,for my contribution to public services.
I then moved to work for Midland Heart one of the largest social housing associations in the Midlands to establish their marketing and communications function. Supporting new business bids, directing brand development, staff and customer engagement, PR and all that comes with internal and external communications.
I later moved into an operational role as Head of Older Peoples Services for Midland Heart with responsibility for more than 400 staff and a budget in excess of £23m. Establishing new services, restructuring teams, managing new developments, negotiating contracts, leading new business bids and changing processes to meet the needs of commissioners and customers.
Since establishing CleeCo in 2015 I have assisted clients with a range of marketing needs:
Strategy and implementation
Consultative role supporting a care and support organisation with their marketing strategy and implementation. A strategic review led to a brand review and refresh. Combining my strategic approach with hands on operational knowledge, enabled me to support the executive team to quickly strengthen the connection between the board room and front line team members. Corporate objectives were aligned with the stakeholder engagement and PR strategy. The final stage was a review of resources needed to ensure sustainable implementation of the strategy, establishing systems, advising on internal staffing, budget and restructuring external supplier spend.
Project to review new business opportunities for a national pharmacy retailer. Understand the assets and skills available to the business. Identify market needs and assess the potential for the organisation to combine existing expertise and assets to meet these needs. Prepare a proposal for the board recommending a range of options, rated against fit with the business, ease of implementation, investment levels, risks, and indicative customer response to the options.
Strategy and crisis management
Led a series of workshops to support a housing association’s executive team to review the corporate positioning. Carried out a communications audit and reported findings to the executive team. Constructed a strategic plan to support the repositioning of the business and delivery of the corporate objectives. Design and deliver a workshop with the senior management team to gain sign up to the vision and engage the wider team with the delivery programme.
I have also provided crisis support, managing press liaison, consulting with the executive team, outlining tactical options recommending the appropriate action and managing the delivery of this.
Providing a pro bono coaching service to two directors of Gloucester based charity, Kingfisher Treasure Seekers. Supporting them to segment their market, understand their channels, develop their business plan and marketing strategy.
